School Building Registry: enhancing data quality and completeness on school facilities

The technical assistance service for strengthening the "IT Services for the development of the Regional School Building Registry" was launched by the Sicilian Region to provide a constantly updated, detailed, and geo-referenced overview of the regional school building stock. The goal is to improve planning for renovation, safety measures, seismic upgrades, and energy efficiency interventions.

Text Lattanzio KIBS provides technical, managerial, and administrative support for updating the Regional School Building Registry within the dedicated software system, including the integration of geo-referenced electronic floor plans and the definition of space usage. The service also includes updating the relationships between buildings and service delivery points, verifying data for transmission to the Ministry, preparing statistical and geographic reports, and supporting managing entities in uploading information.
Furthermore, Lattanzio KIBS is responsible for the evolutionary maintenance of funding modules, supporting beneficiaries of regionally managed interventions, providing specialist assistance for managing funded projects (PR-FESR 2021/2027), and carrying out first-level controls on the Sicily ERDF Operational Programme 2014-2020. Finally, assistance is provided for organizing and digitizing paper archives and for data collection within regional information systems.

Project Impact

The Sicilian Region is thus able to strengthen its capacity to accurately plan and monitor interventions on school buildings, providing an updated, coherent, and detailed overview of the needs and characteristics of each facility.
Thanks to these activities, the collected information forms the basis for planning targeted investments and ensuring safer, more modern, and more efficient school buildings. The added value translates into greater transparency, better use of public resources, and stronger governance in support of regional educational policies.
